Supported by an NEH Fellowship, historian Adam Laats is casting a new light on schooling and education during the founding decades of the United States. School Children: The Real Founders of the American Education focuses on children from all walks of life and offers a comprehensive look at how public schools emerged as the primary source of education. It also explores how these schools functioned as a primary public institution of an ever-evolving society.
