Matthew Rose is Director and Senior Fellow at the Berkeley Institute. A scholar of religion, he is interested in modern political and theological ideas and their intellectual histories. He was previously Ennis Fellow in Humanities at Villanova University, where he taught courses in philosophy, politics, and literature. He is the author of Ethics with Barth (Ashgate, 2010) as well as articles in Political Theology, The Thomist, Logos, Pro Ecclesia, Studies in Christian Ethics, Journal of Catholic Moral Theology, First Things, National Affairs, Public Discourse, and The Weekly Standard. A native of the upper Midwest, he holds an AB from Wabash College, an MA from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD from the University of Chicago.
