Voices of the Past draws a crowd

(November 5, 2018)

Mount Mora Cemetery Preservation and Restoration Association’s “Voices of the Past 2018 — Old Joe’s St. Joe” was held Oct. 18 and 19. The annual event brings St. Joseph history to life.

The tour started at the St. Joseph Convention & Visitors Bureau, where attendees met Joseph Robidoux, Chief White Cloud, Pierre and Pelagie. Then visitors were transported to Mount Mora Cemetery, where they were greeted by Sarah Landis and Jane Ann Kemper. They enjoyed visits with Angelique Vaudry Robidoux, Gen. Benjamin Loan, Joseph Davis, Jeffrey Deroine, Mrs. John Shortridge, Malinda Keedy and Simeon Kemper. The evening ended with a vocal finale of “No More Night.”

The Missouri Humanities Council, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, awarded $2,500 to Mount Mora Cemetery Preservation and Restoration Association on Sept. 18 for a new sound system for Voices of the Past. This new sound system will make the presentations more enjoyable for years to come.
