Veterans Writing Workshops now offered online

(May 6, 2020)

Veterans Writing Workshops offer a safe place for veterans, their adult family members and caregivers to write and talk about their experiences. To help connect veterans with each other and continue providing these workshops, Colorado Humanities is offering three types of online writing workshops in May.

The Writing for Publication and Lunch & Learn workshops provide participants the opportunity to create, share and receive feedback on their writing. Expressive writing provides support for a deeply private journaling process proven to reduce stress.

All are led by veterans who are professional writers, and all are free, thanks to partners and sponsors Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, Arts in Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Steamboat Creates.

• Expressive Writing with Cindy Skaggs is from 3-4:30 p.m. Sundays.

• Lunch and Learn with Cindy Skaggs is from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. May 13 is Life Writing for publication: personal essay and memoir; May 20 is Fiction Foundations for publication: elements of the writing craft; and May 27 is The Business of Writing (who, where, and how to submit your writing).

To register for Expressive Writing or Lunch and Learn, offered via the online platform Discord, email Cindy Skaggs at cindy@cskaggs.com

• Writing for Publication or to share, with Jorge Arroyo and Juan Morales, is at 1 p.m. Thursdays.

To register for Writing for Publication workshops, email Jorge Arroyo at bdpaperworks@gmail.com.
