Veterans can enroll in a free 12-week college course on war and reconciliation

(February 22, 2020)

Veterans interested in taking more college courses in the future can choose to earn three transferable college credits from Bard College at no cost or through the use of VA benefits.

The course, called Clemente’s Veteran Initiative (CVI), was made possible by a $200,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The grant established programs in Tacoma Houston, Texas and Newark, New Jersey.

Books and instructional materials are provided. Childcare and transportation assistance is also available.

“By reading, viewing, and discussing works inspired by military conflicts throughout history, CVI students will have an opportunity to create conversational bridges to help mend the divides that often separate us,” according to the PLU website.
