Caesar, one of 23 enslaved Africans at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, was vital to the success of the property's mill. His is one of the stories told in Historic Hudson Valley's "interactive documentary" website "People Not Property" explores slavery in the colonial North with videos, archival images and research. The project was funded by three National Endowment for the Humanities grants totaling $530,000.
