The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is pleased to announce a new grant program to support the development of undergraduate and graduate humanities programs and courses focused on Western civilization, American history, American government and civics, and the Great Books tradition.

The NEH funding opportunity, Curriculum Development: Western Civilization, aims to strengthen the teaching and study of the humanities in higher education by developing and enhancing programs, resources, or courses that explore, interpret, and preserve the diversity of human cultures, ideas, and practices, present and past.

Two- and four-year colleges and universities may apply for up to $750,000 in grant funding for projects such as new or revised courses, programs, or curriculums; materials and resources that support humanities teaching; faculty development programs; or partnerships with other institutions and organizations to enhance teaching of the humanities on college campuses.

The deadline for applications for Curriculum Development: Western Civilization grants is June 25, 2026.

Interested applicants should consult the NEH website for additional information. Questions about the funding opportunity may be directed to @email
