The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded over $81,000 to Marshall University Research Corp. to upgrade a website and mobile app that provide information on nearby historical and cultural landmarks.

The program is called Clio after the ancient muse of history and is online at http://www.theclio.com .

Associate history professor David Trowbridge created the app the 2013. Marshall said in a news release that Trowbridge will lead a team with assistance from software engineers to incorporate new location-aware technology.
