Creative Alliance gets a $400K boost for its Highlandtown expansion

(January 17, 2020)

The Creative Alliance's plan to expand its programming through construction of a new center got some additional support Tuesday with a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

The city-based community arts group received a $400,000 Infrastructure and Capacity Building Challenge grant, along with 188 other humanities projects across the U.S., totaling $30.9 million.

Creative Alliance will put the funds toward the construction of a new Creativity Center, planned for the site of a shuttered bar across the street from the organization's Highlandtown headquarters on Eastern Avenue. The center will be a supplement to the main building and provide much-needed additional space for dance classes, after-school programs, cooking demonstrations and more.
