Created and starring Iowa Humanities Scholar Tom Milligan, "Wonderful Work: The Harold Schafer Story" is a one-man living history presentation that traces the life of North Dakota businessman and philanthropist Harold Schafer. From poverty to great wealth and success, Harold's version of the American Dream was to "work hard, have fun, and give it all away." Tom illustrates this dream by incorporating his extensive research of archived newspaper articles, company newsletters, memos, letters, and interviews into his one-hour long monologue.
