National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) staff from multiple program divisions and offices are pleased to be attending this year’s American Historical Association Annual Meeting from January 4 to January 7, 2024, in San Francisco, California.

We wanted to bring two sessions to your attention:

On Friday, January 5, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Christopher Thornton, director of NEH’s Division of Research Programs, along with representatives from several private foundations will be participating in session 137: Funding History: An Inside Look at Foundation and Government Decision-making (Continental Ballroom 6, Ballroom Level, Hilton Union Square).

On Sunday, January 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., NEH staff will be hosting session 293: Supporting Your Research and Teaching with Funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities: What’s New for 2024 (Continental Ballroom 1, Ballroom Level, Hilton Union Square).

This session will be an opportunity to learn about new NEH programs as well as updates to current funding opportunities. We also will discuss ways that historians can participate in NEH projects and special initiatives beyond applying for an award directly from NEH.

Time permitting, NEH staff will be available for short introductory meetings with attendees after the session.

And if you are unable to attend our information session and would like to schedule a time for an individual consultation, please contact the appropriate program staff member (using the email addresses provided below).

For inquiries about funding opportunities from the Divisions of Education Programs and Research Programs, please contact Dan Sack, @email.
