The NEH Office of Communications seeks interns to assist in its work of representing the National Endowment for the Humanities in communications with the media and members of the public. The mission of the Office of Communications is to disseminate information about NEH grant programs and products and to promote the importance of the humanities our country’s cultural advancement and in enriching the lives of its citizens. Applicants should have strong writing and communication skills in addition to a passion for the humanities. Interns must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, be professional, and pay close attention to detail. Applicants must work well as part of a team, as the Communications staff works closely and collaboratively. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook is preferred. Graphic and visual design skills would also be appreciated. Duties will include creating social media content, drafting press releases, contacting media, updating press lists, assisting with research, and monitoring media coverage.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for summer internships, as well as internships during the spring and fall semesters. Summer interns should be able to commit to working 4-5 days per week, and fall/spring interns should be able to commit to at least 2 days (or around 10-15 hours). NEH internships are unpaid, but we provide full reimbursement for work related travel, as well as school credit.
