Introducing Montana Native American Literature with Dottie Susag

Using video, oral recording, and supplementary books and poems, this Humanities Montana funded presentation introduces any of the following study guides:

  2. Counting Coup by Joe Medicine Crow
  3. American Indian Stories by Zitkala-Sa
  4. Wind from an Enemy Sky by D'Arcy McNickle
  5. Killing Custer by James Welch
  6. Fools Crow by James Welch
  7. Playing for the World: 1904 Fort Shaw Indian Girls Basketball Team – DVD and study guide
  8. The Surrounded by D'Arcy McNickle – study guide
  9. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie – study guide
  10. Perma Red by Debra Earling – study guide

A one-to-two-hour presentation only covers one major work, but may include video, picture books, poems and some primary documents. These presentations work for students as well as book clubs, local historical societies, and other community organizations.
