"Color-Brave" Community Read: Between the World and Me

Fit Oshkosh,Inc. has been facilitating conversations about race in the Fox Valley and nationally since 2012. This year's Color-Brave read is the #1 New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist book entitled 'Between the World and Me' (2015) by Ta-Nehisi Coates and published by Spiegel & Grau. 'Between the World and Me' is written as a letter to the author's teenaged son about the feelings, symbolism, and realities associated with being black in the United States. Coates is a national correspondent for The Atlantic who writes about culture, politics and social issues. Coates is considered by many to be among the most important contemporary writers on the subject of race. The community read run through June 2016 and meets twice monthly.
