Reno Little Theater presents Roosters, a play that combines a realistic study of family dynamics and a grittty examination of Mexican-American culture.
Hector, a young campesino, is apprehensively awaiting the return of his father, Gallo, who has been serving a jail term for manslaughter. His family welcomes him back with mixed feelings. Mingling scenes of explosive drama with moments of fanciful imagery, the play deftly blends its two natures as it moves to a conclusion where, in a theatrically magical moment, illusion and reality achieve a remarkable synthesis.
Roosters is the second play of Reno Little Theater's new series, La Gente: Latino Theater at RLT. With this exciting new series, the Reno Little Theater hopes to provide an opportunity for cross-cultural dialogue between current patrons and new audiences.
