America's History, People and Culture on Postage Stamps

By Bob Ferguson -- Using a large-screen TV, Ferguson displays high-resolution images of postage stamps commemorating the Civil War, the World Wars, Korea, and Vietnam. Featured in each period are military heroes of various ethnic backgrounds; future presidents, actors and sports legends who served; organizations created by and for veterans; and memorials to honor the dead. He also presents stamps that showcase the history of the American flag and other patriotic symbols and ideas.

For general audiences – stamp collectors may also be interested.

Bob Ferguson has a B.A.in History and an M.A. in Education from the University of Rochester, N.Y. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia, taught high school social studies, and recently retired as the Program Assistant for Humanities Nebraska. He has been a stamp collector for many years.
