Summer Stipends 2018

Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials and publications, archaeological site reports, translations, or editions. Projects must not result solely in the collection of data; instead they must also incorporate analysis and interpretation. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months.

The Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI) program makes grants in support of fellowship programs for scholars administered by one of two groups: independent centers for advanced study, libraries, and museums in the United States; and American overseas research centers and other organizations that have expertise in promoting research on foreign cultures.

Documenting Endangered Languages Fellowships 2018

The Documenting Endangered Languages (DEL) program is an interdisciplinary partnership between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to develop and advance knowledge concerning endangered human languages, made urgent by the imminent death of roughly half of the approximately 7,000 currently used languages.

The Fellowship Program for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan is a joint activity of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities. These fellowships are funded by the JUSFC. The NEH manages the selection process and administers the awards.
