Federal/State Partnership staff bios: Leondra Burchall

Leondra Burchall joined Federal/State Partnership as Program Officer in 2014. She has extensive public history experience and comes from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities where she was Director of African American Programs and Virginia Africana: The Network of Museum, History & Preservation Professionals.

Leondra began her professional career as an oral historian with the National Museum of Bermuda and moved into the field of heritage education in 2005 as Director of Education of The St. George’s Foundation, Bermuda. She has also worked as a consultant and researcher with the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and as a lecturer at Northern Virginia Community College. Leondra has published articles on oral and public history and is interested in academic and community history collaboration.
