Come to the 12th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for the event. The festival is free and open to the public

This year's festival will feature authors, poets and illustrators in several pavilions, including two Sunday-only pavilions: Science Fiction, Fantasy & Graphic Novels and Special Programs. Festival-goers can meet and hear firsthand from their favorite poets and authors, get books signed, hear special entertainment, have photos taken with storybook characters and participate in a variety of activities.

The National Endowment for the Humanities is a long-time contributor to the annual National Book Festival, and provides funds to the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress for its festival-related activities and for participation in the Pavilion of the States by nine humanities-based state centers for the book.

NEH will join the Centers for the Book for Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia in the Festival's Pavilion of the States on Saturday, September 22.  Stop by our table to meet NEH representatives, learn about the Endowment's many programs, and hear about new educational resources being developed for the Chronicling America project by EDSITEment, NEH's educational website.
