Judy Havemann is the Communications Director of NEH. She came to the NEH from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in August 2009. Prior to that she worked in various news positions at The Washington Post. These positions included Virginia editor, Maryland editor, deputy national editor, metro and national reporter, director of recruiting and hiring, and executive food editor. Havemann was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and was graduated from Michigan State University.
