Humanities Initiatives at Hispanic-Serving Institutions

In the meantime, please use the guidelines for the previous deadline, to get a sense of what is involved in assembling an application.

Brief Summary

NEH Humanities Initiatives are intended to strengthen and enrich humanities education and scholarship at Hispanic-Serving Institutions. These grants may be used to enhance the humanities content of existing programs, develop new programs, or lay the foundation for more extensive endeavors in the future.

Each project must be organized around a core topic or set of themes.

Program Statistics

In the last five competitions the Humanities Initiatives at Institutions with High Hispanic Enrollment program (which is now the Humanities Initiatives at Hispanic-Serving Institutions program) received an average of 30 applications per year. The program made an average of 5 awards per year, for a funding ratio of 17 percent.

The number of applications to an NEH grant program can vary widely from year to year, as can the funding ratio.
