New from ODH: Summary Findings of NEH Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants (2007 - 2010)

September 7, 2010 | By Brett Bobley

In anticipation of our upcoming fourth annual Digital Humanities Start-Up Grant Project Directors meeting [1], I'm happy to announce the publication of a new report [2] [PDF] entitled "Summary Findings of NEH Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants (2007 - 2010)."

It is hard to believe, but the Start-Up Grant program has just completed its fourth year.  We thought it would be a good time to reflect on the 145 Start-Up Grant awards that have been made since 2007.  This new report includes a brief history of the grant program, some charts and statistics about applicants and awards, and the results of a survey conducted by the NEH's Kathy Toavs with project directors.

While small, I feel these grants have had a real impact on the digital humanities field -- something that is reflected in the responses we received from project directors. I hope you enjoy the report and, as always, we welcome your feedback.
