September 30, 2011 | By Federal/State Partnership Staff

The New York Council for the the Humanities awarded the first of its Hurricane Irene Recovery Grants [1] to the Slate Valley Museum [2] in Granville, NY. Under this special program, grants of up to $1,000 are available for tax-exempt cultural groups who serve the general public in New York State and whose buildings or collections were damaged by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee. Support for this program comes from NEH's Chairman's Emergency Fund.
