WASHINGTON, September 14, 1999 – Civil War historian Shelby Foote visited the National Endowment for the Humanities on September 14 to discuss regionalism with members of the Endowment staff. He was the featured speaker at a congressional breakfast that morning hosted by the NEH. NPR's Weekend Edition/Saturday was interested in the topic and taped an interview with Mr. Foote and Endowment Chairman Bill Ferris that aired on September 18.
