On Thursday, September 26th, Wellesley College will welcome Senior Program Officer Mark Silver, who will conduct a workshop on applying for NEH grants. Anyone interested in learning about NEH funding opportunities and application strategies is welcome to attend this event.
This workshop is open to the public. In the first half of the workshop, Dr. Silver will provide an overview of NEH funding opportunities and offer tips for writing competitive proposals, focusing especially on the NEH Fellowships , Summer Stipends , and Collaborative Research programs. (Those interested in other NEH programs will, however, find that much of the advice applies.) In the second half of the workshop, he will run a mock application review panel. Participants will read, discuss, and rank proposals following NEH’s procedures in order to understand more fully how applications are evaluated and recommended for NEH funding.
In addition to providing general information, Dr. Silver will be available to meet individually with prospective applicants to discuss their projects and offer advice about their proposals. Priority for individual appointments will be given to those who submit a one-page single-spaced statement of their project by Thursday, September 19. While it is best to participate in the full workshop, you may schedule an individual appointment even if you cannot attend the main session. Appointments are available on Thursday, September 26 from 2-5 p.m. and Friday, September 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Each appointment will last 15-20 minutes.
