Join Seitu Ken Jones , a Minnesota-based visual artist, in an evening of exploring ideas of food, equity, and community thanks to the Minnesota Humanities Center . Jones will lead a discussion related to his new project, Spoken Remedy: The Community Meal, a nearly three-quarter mile long dinner table along the Central Corridor light rail line between the twin cities of Minneapolis and St Paul, Minnesota. Inspired by urban agriculture movements, this 2013 Joyce Award-winning project aims to support multi-perspective community conversations around consumption, marketing and production of food.
During this event, Jones will encourage participants to think about their own stories and the meaning and power of food in their lives. In addition, he will share how communities are finding solutions to food inequity -- access to local, affordable food -- by relying on the multiplicity of traditions and voices in their communities.
An Evening with Seitu Jones is part of the Minnesota Humanities Center’s Healing Series featuring renowned speakers engaging audiences in tough conversations.
