George H.W. Bush

George H.W. Bush had a lifetime of foreign policy experience to draw on as he responded to the fall of the Berlin Wall and Iraq's invasion of Kuwait; the son of a Senator, he was a World War II veteran and a former Congressman, ambassador, CIA director, and vice president. Operation Desert Storm sent his popularity sky high, but Bush lost a bid for reelection due to the weak economy. Less than a decade later, he would become known as "the first President Bush," to distinguish him from his son, George W.
