Award-Winning Stories of the Presidents, Online

For many Americans, Jimmy Carter was a fresh start after the era of Watergate and Vietnam—a born-again Georgia governor who promised the public, "I'll never lie to you." But the seemingly endless Iran hostage crisis, among other issues, helped make Carter a one-term president, remembered principally for the Camp David peace accords. In an unexpected turnaround, he then became one of America's most popular former presidents through his humanitarian work.
