Nevada Humanities to Launch Nevada Humanities CARES: Relief Grants for Nevada Nonprofit Cultural Organizations

(May 6, 2020)

Nevada Humanities will soon launch Nevada Humanities CARES: Emergency Relief Grants to Nevada Cultural Organizations, a special grantmaking initiative intended to provide rapid-response operating support for Nevada nonprofit humanities and cultural organizations facing financial hardship and duress resulting from the COVID-19 health emergency. This includes humanities-focused cultural organizations with federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit status experiencing:

  • Loss of revenue (from loss of ticket sales, admissions, fee for service work, investments, donations, etc.)

  • Loss of staff (through firings, layoff, furlough, etc.) or reduction in staff salaries

  • Difficulty paying rent, mortgage, or utilities

  • Risk of closure

We are in the process of establishing the guidelines and details for the distribution of these funds, but please know that we are committed to distributing these funds as quickly and equitably as possible. Application guidelines and information will be posted HERE as soon as they become available. These grants are provided by Nevada Humanities, Nevada’s independent, nonprofit humanities council, and funded by the congressional CARES Act through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

NEH is offering additional CARES Act funded direct grants to humanities organizations around the nation; visit the NEH website here for more information about NEH direct grants.

Nevada Humanities CARES: Emergency Relief Grants to Nevada Cultural Organizations are provided by Nevada Humanities and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan.
