NEH Film Festival: For more than forty years, NEH has supported films that combine innovative techniques with rigorous scholarship to produce documentary films that are both compelling and educational. The film festival, hosted by the National Archives, showcases four of these films. Learn more.
April 18
American Life and the Humanities: NEH and the Center for the National Archives Experience present a panel discussion on "American Life and the Humanities." Panelists include NEH Chairman Bruce Cole and former Chairmen Joseph Duffey and William Ferris. Archivist Allen Weinstein will act as moderator for this 60 minute discussion and 30 minute Q & A with the audience. The program, which begins at 7:00 p.m., will be held in the National Archives' McGowan Theater. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis; the theater doors will open 30 minutes before the program.
November 10
President and Mrs. Bush hosted a dinner at the White House to celebrate NEH's fortieth anniversary and to honor the 2005 National Humanities Medalists. Highlights of the evening are available on the White House's Web site, including the president's remarks, a video, and a photo gallery.
October 27
The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in Austin, Texas hosted a panel discussion with Chairman Bruce Cole and past NEH chairmen.
September 29
NEH celebrated its 40th anniversary with a reception at the National Gallery of Art. The reception included a special viewing of American paintings. Vice President and Mrs. Cheney joined the Chairman in remarks celebrating past achievements and heralding an anniversary year of enhanced activities and new initiatives.
