Franklin Toker

Franklin Toker, a past president of the Society of Architectural Historians, is professor of the history of art and architecture at the University of Pittsburgh.

He directed the archaeological excavations below the Cathedral from 1969 to 1974 and the outside excavation in 1980. He is writing a four-volume archaeological history on the Florence Cathedral district for the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies in Toronto.

He received NEH funding in 1979 (excavations), 1985, and 1992 (research support).
