Bad Request Error in Grants.gov (Incorrect Roles)
(published January 10, 2024)
NEH is publishing this page to alert applicants to a possible issue in Grants.gov. If you receive a “Bad request” error message as you apply to an award for organizations, it is possible that you do not have the correct privileges in Grants.gov.
If you receive a “Bad Request” message:
- Make sure you have added an organization profile to your account using the UEI you received when registering with SAM.gov – More info here
- Ask the EBiz POC of your organization (designated when registering with SAM.gov) to assign you the necessary roles– More info here
- If you believe you are the EBiz POC but still receive the “Bad Request” error or are unable to assign roles to other individuals, confirm that your email address for your Grants.gov account matches the email address for the EBiz POC identified in SAM.gov – More info here
This is a known issue related to a recent update, and Grants.gov is working to fix it. Applicants encountering errors should contact Grants.gov support at 1-800-518-4726 or https://www.grants.gov/support.
