Chairman's Event

"Civility, With a German Immigrant Accent"

June 16, 2012

NEH Chairman Jim Leach delivers a public lecture entitled "Civility, With a German Immigrant Accent" at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

The talk, hosted by the German American Heritage Center, is an extension of Chairman Leach’s 50-state Civility Tour, in which he sought to call attention to the need for civility in public discourse. In his comments on civility in American discourse, Leach refers to the always lively, sometimes rowdy role of German immigrants in the 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln.

The event is free and open to the public.
