Patchwork of the Prairie

October 19, 2014

Patchwork of the Prairie by Yvonne Hollenback.  Hollenbeck presents a trunk show of approximately 30 quilts made by members of the same family spanning 135 years. The stories behind both the quilters and the quilts themselves are shared and accompanied with some of Hollenbeck’s own cowboy/cowgirl poetry.

Yvonne Hollenbeck is an award-winning quilter and the nation’s top award-winning cowgirl poet as well as one of the most published. Yvonne presents an entertaining trunk-show of approximately 40 family quilts made on the prairies of Nebraska, spanning 5 generations, providing a glimpse of life during the past 130 years through patchwork. She also presents a separate program of cowboy poetry, reflecting the life of a rancher’s wife.

Funded project of Humanities Nebraska.  Humanities Nebraska was established as a state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1973.
