Western Africa Before the Boats.   This exhibit explores what life was like in Africa before the slave trade began, approximately 1500-1650 AD. Topics include land and climates, food, art, music, and religious traditions.

A lecture and programming series will be offered in Burlington, Cedar rapids, Davenport, Des moines, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Keokuk, Mason City, Muscatine, Ottumwa, and Waterloo.
