"Women, War & Peace" Wins Award

May 1, 2012

“Women, War & Peace,” a five-part PBS mini-series, has won several awards, both for the series and for individual programs. The NEH funded “I Came to Testify,” a one-hour program about the Balkans' civil war in the 1990s, the brutal use of sexual crimes, and the eventual trial of men for these atrocities.

In addition, the series received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Series. The Gracies, sponsored by the Alliance for Women in Media, honor programming that encourages the realistic and faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, features, news, commercials, and other programs.

The series is also among seven programs to receive a Television Academy Honor at the fifth annual ceremony in Los Angeles, an award that celebrates “excellent programming that not only entertains, but also presents a unique or significant look at the human condition.”
