The Italian Americans Screening

NEH Chairman Bro Adams was a featured speaker at the Washington, D.C., premiere of The Italian Americans on February 4, 2015.  The four-hour documentary series, funded by the NEH, explores the history, culture, and contributions of Italians Americans from the late nineteenth century to the present.

A capacity crowd filled the George Washington University’s Jack Morton Auditorium, where Chairman Adams and other prominent figures, including U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi, introduced the film and discussed its significance.  After a screening of highlights from the series, John Viola of the National Italian American Foundation moderated a lively discussion with filmmaker John Maggio and author Maria Laurino.

The Italian Americans premieres on PBS on Tuesdays, February 17 and 24, 9-11 p.m.
