August 1, 2013 | By Public Programs Staff

The San Francisco Chronicle has named the NEH-funded walking tour app “Let’s Get Lost” its App of the Week on its online version of the the newspaper.

The app, developed by KQED, allows visitors to the Bay area to explore local New Deal murals and to understand the connections between history and art. Through walking tours and related programming using television, a website, and mobile applications users are invited to explore the history of some of the city's New Deal-era murals as examples of public art within the social and political context of that period.

The New Deal Murals of San Francisco app is produced by KQED Inc., in partnership with the California Historical Society and the Living New Deal Project. Producers: Christine Murray, Joan Johnson Miller, Adrienne Calo. Senior Interactive Producer: Mark Taylor. Executive Director, Interactive: Colleen Wilson. Project Director: Louise Lo. Mobile Development and Design: Bayinteractive Inc., Project Manager: Kaisa Pyhälä.

KQED received two grants to create and implement the walking tour app.
