In April 2014, NEH launched STANDING TOGETHER: The Humanities and the Experience of War, a new agency-wide grantmaking initiative to fund projects on the history, experience, and meaning of war and military service. Standing Together aims to promote disucssion and understanding of the experiences of Americans affiliated with the armed services, whether active duty or veterans. Projects that have a clear potential to involve the nation's veterans and their families are especially encouraged.
As a part of the Standing Together initiative, NEH's 56 state and territorial humanities councils were invited to apply for a $10,000 grant to develop and enhance programs that reflect the interests of America's military veterans and their communities. This booklet offers a summary of their plans.
