Internship: EDSITEment

The National Endowment for the Humanities’ EDSITEment team is currently looking for qualified applicants for the NEH’s Summer 2014 Internship Program. EDSITEment (edsitement.neh.gov) is a website sponsored by the NEH that offers teachers, students, and parents high-quality teaching and learning materials in the subject areas of Art & Culture, Foreign Languages, History & Social Studies and Literature and Language Arts. All materials housed at EDSITEment have been reviewed by humanities scholars, classroom teachers and education administrators for content, design and educational value.

Ideal candidates should be rising seniors, recent college graduates, or students enrolled in a graduate program in education or a humanities discipline. Interns should have strong writing and editing skills, be social media savvy, and have an interest in education and the humanities. Our internships are unpaid, but we provide full reimbursement for work-related travel. We are looking for a commitment of approximately 30 hours per week. To apply, please send a resume, short writing sample, and cover letter to Carol Peters at cpeters@neh.gov. We strongly encourage that candidates submit one of the following types of writing samples: blog post, news article, press release, review, short narrative writing piece, expository writing, or a short essay on a humanities topic.

TO APPLY

Please submit a resume and cover letter indicating where in the NEH you wish consideration for an internship and the time period for which you are available (including the number of hours/days of the week if you will not be available for a full-time work schedule). A writing sample and copy of your transcript, if applying for a student internship, is requested but not required. Also, for student applicants from colleges or universities that grant academic credit for internships, please indicate if you are seeking an internship for academic credit.
