White House Liaison and Director of Congressional Affairs
Courtney Chapin is the National Endowment for the Humanities’ White House Liaison and Director of Congressional Affairs. During her tenure at NEH, Courtney has executed a number of large scale public events and created and built upon NEH partnerships with the Smithsonian, military academies, national humanities organizations, federal agencies (including the VA and Department of Interior), and major colleges and universities. She is responsible for the NEH’s day-to-day interface with the White House and for communicating to Congress the impact NEH grant-making has on improving American citizens’ lives and building stronger communities. Courtney graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1986 with a degree in Fine Arts. Prior to her position at the NEH, Courtney served as an Obama Administration appointee at the Corporation for National and Community Service, where she handled corporate outreach by leveraging private sector resources, intellectual capital, and collaborations to support community service. She also worked on the staff of the first Obama Presidential Campaign and the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Committee. Courtney has two children, Grace, 22, and Jeremiah, 24.
