We are very pleased to announce that, in partnership with the Joint Information System Committee (JISC) in the United Kingdom, NEH will be offering a second round of grants for the Transatlantic Digitization Collaboration program.   The guidelines should be available later this month, but we wanted to alert potential applicants so that you could start developing the necessary partnerships.

The deadline for applications will be in March 2009.  These grants provide funding for up to eighteen months of development between August 2009 and March 2011.  Applications will be sought in the following areas:

  • New digitization projects and pilot projects
  • Addition of important material to existing digitization projects
  • Development of infrastructure to support U.S.-English digitization work
  • Integrating collections with related reference resources (e.g., encyclopedias, dictionaries, gazetteers) to provide contextual information to users

Awards range from $200,000 to $300,000 (approximately £135,000 to £200,000) to be split between the projects partners.

You can read about the previous competition here (PDF).
