Abstract: The Institute for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Science believes that computing is galvanizing humanities research and that the next step in this revolution is high performance computing. To enable our continued and long-term effectiveness in digital humanities scholarship, I-CHASS seeks an NEH Challenge Grant of $750,000 to create a $3 million endowment that will help fund three positions at I-CHASS: an Associate Director for Data Analytics and Pattern Recognition, an Associate Director for Human-Computer Interaction, and an Assistant Director in Modeling. A depleting fund of $53,333 per year for fifteen years will finance workshops and mini-residencies designed to offer humanists the computational expertise necessary to exploit advanced computing software and hardware to support their research and educate the next generation of scholars. The benefits accrued from this grant will allow I-CHASS to chart new ground.
